All options available in 30 minute, 1 hour or 1 1/2 hour sessions, unless otherwise noted.
Swedish Massage Known as "traditional" massage, Swedish massage includes long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions. It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body's largest organ, produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body.
It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, circulation, and promotes health and well being.
Deep Tissue Massage Using deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle, Deep Tissue Massage is designed to un-stick the muscle fibers, releasing toxins and deeply held patterns of tension.
Pregnancy Massage This massage relieves the tensions and aches caused by extra weight and shift in the center of gravity. Pregnancy Massage reduces swelling and fatigue, soothes the nervous system, and enhances energy. Available in 1 hour or 11/2 hour sessions.
Medical Massage Medical conditions, including cancer, MS, and auto-immune diseases, are addressed by targeting the key areas to alleviate the symptoms of chronic muscular discomfort, nerve impingements, muscle tears, inflammation and sprains, while improving circulation, lymph flow and range of motion. ?For more on the medical benefits of massage at Birchwood, read Healing Hands, a recent article featured in Rivertown.
Sports Massage Used after, during, or before athletic events to prepare the athlete for peak performance, Sports Massage relieves fatigue and swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility, and helps prevent injuries.
Reflexology Based on ancient Oriental theory that meridian lines or pathways carry energy throughout the body, Reflexology works on the body?s problem areas through corresponding reflex points on the feet. Massage applied to a particular reflex point initiates stimulation of the related organ, clearing congestion and restoring natural functioning and health. Available in 30 minute or 1 hour sessions.

The Raindrop Technique

They are then lightly feathered and massaged into the skin to activate nerve and blood reception and boost the immune system.
Hot Stone Massage
This technique utilizes smooth, heated stones and Swedish Massage to produce a deeply relaxing and healing experience.
Aroma Therapy Options
Enhance your experience by including selected aromatic blends with your massage. Four different blends available, all natural herb and/or essential oil combinations.
