The Open Self Mind-Body Workshop with Rachel Astarte Piccione

Posted on January 21st, 2012

Saturday, June 9 │ 2–5 pm │$40

Creation is not in the business of making things that fail. Each one of us is an individual gem in the universe, embodying unique magnificence.

We owe it to each other as living beings and to the creative power of Source to go out into the world, shining the light of our true selves so that others can benefit and perhaps seek to reconnect with their own light. The Open Self is the process and practice of figuring out who that unique Self is and celebrating him or her every day. In this mind-body workshop led by hypnotherapist, author, and educator Rachel Astarte Piccione, participants are invited to discover and celebrate their true selves through guided meditation, journal-writing, and deep discussion.

During the three-hour workshop Rachel will help you to:
• Remove obstacles keeping you from your Self
• Discover the power of Self energy
• Honor and delight in your individuality
• Learn how to call upon Self energy for mental and physical healing
• Open yourself to life’s adventures
• Use writing as a tool to remain in deep communion with yourself

Rachel Astarte Piccione is a hypnotherapist, author and educator living in Nyack. She teaches weekly sessions of The Open Self at Birchwood Center. To learn more call 917 282 9537, email info@healingartsnewyork.com or visit www.healingartsnewyork.com.

Hike begins at 4:30 in Harriman State Park

Take a moonlit hike in the Harriman Forest. Stretch, meditate and enjoy the light of the silvery moon.

Come and join Jerry for an evening hike in Harriman State Park. The hike will be to a lake along the Suffern Bear Mountain Trail where we will do some asana and meditation, and hopefully see the nearly full Strawberry Moon. As we will be returning at dusk and perhaps darkness, please be prepared by bringing along a flashlight and insect repellent. Also, bring along water and some food to enjoy while we smooze before the return hike. As this is a moderately strenuous walk, please wear sturdy shoes or boots, and you should have some experience with walking in the woods.

Open to anyone who enjoys self-expression through movement, we will combine guided movement experiences with divine play and exploration of Self through the body. You will experience meditation in motion through improvisation, mudra, repetitive movement patterns and a flowing asana practice that ranges from gentle to vigorous.

Moving Mantras merge movement and meditation with the power of word. They are embodied formulas of moving symbolism, using shape, imagery, movement and repetition to chant with the entire body and the mind. Students will learn to compose Moving Mantras embodying the sacred syllable OM.
