Spring Yoga Hike
Take a moonlit hike to Breakneck Pond with Jerry Cincimino on Saturday, June 6th. Stretch, meditate, and enjoy the light of the silvery moon. Hike begins at 6:00pm in Harriman State Park.
Jerry Cincimino has been hiking for over 25 years in Harriman State Park and for more than 10 years with a group of men on a monthly basis year round under the light of the full moon. April marked the nine year anniversary of his yoga teaching, and four years leading meditation at Birchwood Center.
The hike to Breakneck Pond is an easy walk of about a mile, with the last third being on pavement. There is an abandoned camp at the lake with a swimming dock, if anyone is so inclined. The evening will consist of meeting at 6pm at St. John’s in the Wilderness Church, doing some breathing, centering and light stretching before we walk into the woods. There will be stops along the way where we can meditate and enjoy being outdoors. Once we reach the lake we will practice some asanas and meditate on the night sky and the moon. We plan to return to our vehicles by 10 pm.
Participants need to wear sturdy shoes, long pants for protection from ticks, bring flashlights, water and a snack. Get directions to our starting point from the Birchwood Office.
Fee: $30.
Registration in advance is required. Call 845-358-6409 or email info@birchwooddcenter.com.
